Got cramps?

Dear friends,

I experience some pretty painful period cramps when I first start my menstrual cycle, do you? I have noticed that we do not normalize talking about periods in our culture. We should! It is such a beautiful and natural occurrence in a women's body. I have been looking into new ways to support my self during these times of the month. I have ordered some period panties, I am trying out a new menstrual cup and I am using natural remedies to ease cramp pain and increase comfort.

Today, I was reminiscing about my first period and how awful it was because no one had told me what it would be like or what to do about it until it happened. I was at school (of course) and I had to do the old wrap the sweatshirt around the waist trick to cover up the stain on my pants the whole rest of the school day. I hope nowadays girls have some more support with this. Tell me your first period story and what you do to support your self during these times of the month. <3

Here are some yoga poses that help with period cramps:

#1 child's pose (balasana)

*you can also place a blanket behind the knees to relieve pressure

#2 cow pose (bitilasana)

#3 cat pose (marjaryasana)

#4 hug knees in and rock from side to side

*nice back massage and pressure on the lower belly

#5 grabbing knees with hands and making small circles

*massages the low back

#6 crocodile pose (makarasana)
